You will be admitted to a specialized research department call the PCRC.
The Pediatric Clinical Research Center coordinates research to improve the medical care of infants, children and youth at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. The center includes three research units — a five-bed hospital unit on the sixth floor of the hospital; an adjacent outpatient clinic with two exam rooms; and an outreach team that carries out studies in the Intensive Care Nursery and Pediatric Heart Center.
In addition to doctors and nurses, the team includes a full-time child developmental psychologist, nutrition services and a specialized sample processing laboratory.
